My Europe Story (First Stop)

Previously i wrote before on my first day Europe trip but i took it down. I decided to just sum it up all in one as it may be easier for me to keep track. Original plan was to update after every stop but the internet speed in Europe doesnt allow me to. It is definitely a long stop from when i last updated. This semester break began with much happiness, joy, excitement, anticipation but ended up with worries, sadness, confusions. Have fun going on reading about my adventure together till the very end and i am blessed enough to have you go through them until the very end. I hope i have the patience to update all at once without much disturbance. If you want, you can also check them out here, dayre/freetobeme but i only updated in picture form.

[Note that some picture i have square them to fit in my dayre post but some is still in the actual shape. Almost 95% of the pictures are not edited and remain as they way i capture them. I am also not a pro photographer]

First Stop : Amsterdam

Passport : Checked
Ticket : Checked
Luggage : Checked

Let's move our butts to KLIA and wait for our flights! I am super excited because it is one of my longest flight and also the furthest getaway i've ever been to. So much of spending on parents money, i promised that in future ill pay them back with trips to other places. I keep my promises.

I flew with MAS and i am quite satisfied with the service. Just one thing i have to let it out, one of the air stewardess seems to treat the Europeans better than the Asians. I was asking for a cup of water with a smile and a please but all i get in return was the look without smile and my cup of water. While when it come to serving food to the Europeans, she seem to be smiling like cloud nine. I am not jealous or trying to mean anything here but being an Air Stewardess is my dream and giving customers a satisfying treatment plants in me ever since i was born. She just made me feel like she really don't fit well enough if she is acting this way. It's okay, not judging and i might think she misses her family that's why.

Boarding Gate

Safety belts : Checked
Comfort : Checked

It is a 12-hour 40-minute flight and they serve two meals which were supper and breakfast. Supper will be about 12.30am Malaysian time while breakfast will be about 4am Amsterdam timing. I am very confused with the timing, so you shall do the counting. :) Amsterdam is 6 hours behind Malaysia time.

You can choose either Chicken Rendang or Beef with rice and i chose the Chicken Rendang with rice. The meal was delicious and satisfying. There are also wide vatriety of drinks to choose from but plain waters works just fine for me. In between meals, you will be given a snack pack just in case you needed to munch something while waiting for breakfast. In the snack pack, there are cookies and peanuts.

For the breakfast, there were also two choices which were egg and sausage or nasi lemak. I chose the egg with sausage while my mum chose the nasi lemak. This is because we would like to exchange food. :) Everyone know that there will be entertainment on board for us to utilized during the journey. In MAS, they do update new movies on their little tv and i enjoyed my time watching 2 broke girls actually.

Arrive safely at 7am in Schipol Airport, Amsterdam. I definitely had my smile on from the moment i walked out of the plane. I was told that the temperature was 14-15c at that time but i did not feel anything at all. So i was like okay, seems pretty warm and not as expected. While waiting for the brother to reach from Portsmouth, we chilled everywhere around the airport.

I told my mom i would like to check out the outside of the airport and the moment i walked out of the door, i squeak. Literally. I was like so cooling like an air conditioned road and so beautiful. At the moment, i don't feel like going back in. (giggles) Then i realized that usually they have heater in the building to warm up the place. By the way, welcome to Amsterdam! I won't be dragging your time by making you read about all my activities as you can all see them in pictures. I will just explain a little bit here. We checked in at Manor Hotel. I opened the door to realize that the toilets were kind of obscene. There were two glass window that was placed between the room and the bathroom. Thankfully there were this blurred out glass of window place to cover the shower area. Asian, not used to pooping and peeing while others can see through. :) The public toilets (some) were also like that and then my dad was like 'Noooooo'. HAHAHA. You can check out the picture below where i selfie and the two side windows which see through to the bathroom. Check out the hotel link here :
Manor Hotel. The room were pretty comfortable and the WIFI were not as stable as i thought. It went on and off. There were different package for internet and you can check it out when you check in the hotel. It is a convenient place for Asians who are not used to Western food because there is an Asian restaurants just right opposite the hotel which food is at affordable prices. I never tried but if you do, do share with me the taste of it.

Transportation wise, bikers are very common there and they are the top priority in Amsterdam. Every corner you walk to, there are bikes like everywhere. So, you can rent a bicycle if you love cycling, or travel by foot and trams. However way that suits you. Don't worry about getting hit by car because there are special bike lanes. Since mom and dad don't cycle, the brother decided we travel by foot and trams with the map available. To be honest, i did not stay long in Amsterdam, so i couldn't make it to a lot of attractions. It's okay, i will be back to visit Amsterdam soon because i fell in love with that city. There are different types of cards for tram. You can buy the [every stop] ticket or maybe [24 hours] ticket where you can use them to go everywhere in 24 hours.

Another tips to tell you also is the discount card. Be sure to check out the discounted card area at your hotel. According to a friend of mine, it is available at most hotel for the  visitors. Collect them all because you can get discount at certain places you visit. There are no limits of cards you can take, so just take each one that are available! You never know which you will visit.

First day : Just walking around and familiarize ourselves with the roads and trams

Do spare a day for Heineken Experience. Definitely worth it! You can be the beer, you can also pour your own beer, you can experience steps on beer processes. Definitely worth it for beer lovers. :) It is definitely worth it.
