1st day of intern

Rise and shine! Done with my first day of intern. Pretty much having tension, happy, fun, enjoy all at one time. Started the day feeling really tensed up from the HR department. Sometimes not everyone bothers about whether you're a newbie nor intern. They just expect you to know things ahead and know what you're supposed to do. Well, some people like to start boasting and try to act like they know something but getting stuck with the questions they don't know how to answer. As to me, as an intern, this is what i apply to myself and what i went through :

1. Keep smiling except when people scold you. Just say sorry.

I went to work smiling and that pretty much cover up my tension. I did get scolded at the beginning but i just apologize and always admit it is my mistakes. Not because i am too coward for admitting im right but i know society these days they always assume newbie is wrong and also it depends on the environment. Sometimes, you just have to give a step out to have a better work life in the future.

2. It's okay about admitting something that you're not good at (although they looked down on you).

I was questioned and because it is my first time working in a hospital, it is definitely giving a hard time. Addition to that, hospital is always the last place i chose to work in because i hate doctors and blood. This time, it leave me no choice because this is the only place that kind of accept intern easily in my hometown. I was asked about a few question based on doctors' background like what they do and blah blah blah. Having to admit that i don't know, practically changes the HR manager's face. It's okay, i just surrender.

3. There will not be all that is serious.

I am glad. Going through hell in the morning, but getting rainbow later. I finally went to the department i am placed in which is the PR and Marketing. The handle quite a lot of stuff though but the colleagues are definitely friendly. They get stressed having the amount of job but they does it with smile because they tend to joke while the work. They definitely made me feel better.

4. Make sure you look presentable

I did not aware about their dress code so i wore a skirt and formal shirt. To come to realize that my skirt was short to my HR manager which to the people around me is pretty normal.

5. Accept whatever you're given

You know you're an intern. It's either you do the real job or it's the 'internshit' kind job. I don't really know how to categorize my job today. I did practically ummm simple plus learning things that im going to handle in the future.

Simple job :
Binding
Refiling the empty paper from the stor
Going around the hospital to give the memorandum
Checking some grammar mistake for my manager
Answer call from customer

Learning:
Learn how to treat customer
Learn about the department's location
About punching card
About some things like do the customer card, filling, writing receipts

So far, till then, gonna sleep and prepare for tomorrow. :) Hope you enjoy! See ya! Jan

This is the view from my HR Department

Started off my job having to read all about what each doctor does

Got to read their company profile
