Smile to the rescueeee! :)

Getting super hyped up the moment i saw Nuffnang is running a contest for Invisalign treatment because i got to know more about Invisalign when i read kampungboycitygal's blogpost. Definitely caught a big of attention of mine as i don't have a perfect straight teeth. I do have a few short memorable moments to share that i managed to embarrassingly cover with my smile.

During my internship, a few moments that i managed to cover up with a super wide smile. I interned in a hospital under PR/Customer Service/Marketing department. It is a 3 combined department in one office, so i was given the opportunity to experienced all 3 different task.

One of them was during my breakfast in the office. Who can getaway with the smell of food right? What more the smell of Nasi Lemak. My colleagues were all really fine with eating during work time as long as the work get done on time. However, which bosses allow that. On this very rare day when i decided to just treat myself with a packet of Nasi Lemak in the office, the boss decided to walk in and say hi to everyone in my department. Right away, i can only wrapped up my Nasi Lemak in less than 2 seconds, hide it, look up and say 'Good Morning boss' with a super big smile while trying to pretend i am busy with my work(hands under the table). Glad enough, i managed to escape from being caught and leave a good impression on my boss for the smile and wish.

Another one was between me and a patient who mistaken me for the doctor. Being an intern, i wore full formal to work (only doctors wear formal) because i am not given uniform for that short period of time. One day i decided to follow my colleague to get survey from patients. As i walked in to a ward, this patient immediately sat up straight with pretty serious face. For a moment i thought he was unhappy and ready to give comments until he said 'Yes Doctor?' I was stunned i have no idea how to escape that embarrassing moment because i am only an intern who wanted to do survey. I could only smile widely and say 'Sorry, but i am only an intern from customer service department and i am here to ask about the services'. I could feel that the patient's face immediately change from serious to the 'laaaaa' face. This happened twice though.

Another time happened during performance. I can deeply remember this because it was my very first time singing on stage. Blessed enough, ive got a partner. It was time when i am supposed to sing 'Im Yours'. I practiced like a million times and because of nervousness, i forgot the lines. Worst of all, half of the people in the room knows me and was anticipating for my performance. I tried so hard but no words came out. Thank God for my partner who helped me cover up. The vips were just staring at me. My smile can only rescue me from more embarrassment and awkwardness. From that day onwards, i dare not step up on stage anymore. However, im proud of myself that i did not just walk away from the stage but gave them a big smile instead.

Here are those stories that left me with deep memories because smile can definitely rescue really awkward and embarrassing moments. The courage of smiling widely despite having crooked teeth aint as easy as you will think it is. Well, i do hope you guys enjoy part of my sharing. Till then,

Jan
